Why your rotation interval comes up faster here
Tesla says rotate every 6,250 miles, or when the tread depth difference between front and rear hits 2/32", whichever comes first. A 40-mile round-trip commute is about 10,000 miles a year on its own, before weekends. That puts a real commuter at a rotation roughly every four to five months, not once a year.
South County terrain doesn't help. The grades around Oso Parkway, La Paz, and the hillside tracts mean more load transfer and more work for the tires than flat-valley driving. Combine that with the weight and instant torque of an EV, which wears tires roughly 20% faster than a comparable gas car, and skipped rotations get expensive quickly: the rears hit the wear bars while the fronts still have half their tread, and you end up buying rubber early.

Driveways, grades, and where we actually work
Most Mission Viejo homes have a driveway and a garage, which makes this straightforward — considerably easier than the apartment carports we deal with in Irvine. The one local wrinkle is slope. Plenty of driveways here sit on a real grade, and there's a point where lifting a 4,400-pound car stops being safe no matter how good your equipment is.

When it's not a rotation problem
If one rear tire is chewed up on the inside edge and the others look fine, that's usually alignment, often after a curb strike or a pothole, and rotating just spreads the damage around. If you hear a rhythmic hum that rises with speed, that can be suspension rather than tires. Either way we'll tell you what we see and point you to an alignment shop or Tesla's Lake Forest service center, which is the closest one to you.
